Summary of the Job
The role of our West Texas Outside Sales/Customer Service positon will be responsible for marketing and customer service efforts of our MSI Products to include - Performing aspects of selling, making and receiving calls to/from customers, handling orders, quotes, follow-up, assisting with technical questions and verifying status of orders. Assisting with inside sales, technical support and also assisting other MSI personnel.
Responsibilities include the following. Responds to customer inquiry concerning price and availability. Gathers information from company Engineering
Department and manufacturing departments in order to answer customer questions. Generates quotations and process of assembly and sales orders. Edits orders received for price and nomenclature. Informs customer of unit prices, shipping date, anticipated delays, and any additional information needed by customer. Advise customer if the order is close to the current dollar discount and inquire if they would like to take advantage of any available discount by adding on to the order. Writes and types order form, or enters data into computer, to determine total cost for customer. Prints shipment documents and forwards to the Customer Service Manager for review. Records or files copy of orders received. Follows up on orders to ensure delivery by specified dates. Computes price, discount, and shipping charges as required. Prepares invoices and shipping documents such as export papers, commercial invoices. Checks shipping orders to ensure they are accurate with regards to quantity shipped, this is done by comparing shipping documents with computer generated reports. Specifies if special labeling is required for shipment and in some instances supplies to the shipping department. Receives and checks customer complaints. Confers with production, shipping, shop, or common carrier personnel to expedite or trace missing or delayed shipments. Compiles statistics and prepares various reports for management when required. Answers questions from customers or individuals on how a product operates or directs them to the person that is able to assist them. Ensures quotes are processed through the quoting process in a timely manner. Prepares quotes and maintains files for all quotes that are processed. Maintains customer name and address data base. Responsible for sending new pricing, with the correct multiplier, to customers. Creates no charge shippers for customer replacements. Performs valve and/or pump preventive maintenance classes. Some travel required. Sales calls. Reporting of sales trips. Delivery of product.
Any other duties that the position is required to perform. Trade Show participation.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed in this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Minimum High School diploma or general education degree (GED); with one to three months related experience and/or training; but prefer 2-7 years of sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. A general understanding of the capabilities of machine tools. A general knowledge of manufacturing, assembly and maintenance of product line. A working knowledge and experience with computer systems for the purpose of quotation and assembly and sales order processing. The ability to communicate with customers and work with other Company personnel.
Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, work instructions, software manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate well with customers.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to
deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities - Must be familiar with software packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Must become familiar with all product lines
and customer base. Must be familiar with Customer Service system(s) and be able to input and retrieve data.

Moderate to heavy physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily production environment.
